It all started with my mum's favourite: Grape-nuts ice cream, a Jamaican classic, one of those flavours of home that carries a whole place inside it. But every UK version fell flat, fake flavours that erased the childhood magic.

That's what happens when flavour isn't done properly: you lose a piece of home. Done right, it can close that distance in one bite.

So on her birthday, I surprised her with a homemade batch, made properly this time. I watched her go somewhere else entirely: back to Kingston, for a second, over a bowl of ice cream.

​

That's the feeling I wanted to bottle. It's how Tropicream came into the world — built on real stories, from Jamaica's Grapenut, to Cacao & Tahini, born of Peru and the Middle East, to Dragonfruit & Mint, carried over from Southeast Asia — working with growers and importers who get it right.
